Raymond David Weaver

      From 9th grade receiver to senior quarterback, defensive back, returner and punter, Raymond Weaver’s career statistics include 4,994 yards receiving, rushing, passing and returns; 43 touchdowns; 15 interceptions; and 42.1-yard average per punt. He was twice voted All-County and All-Region and was Most Valuable Player for both his senior year.

      The Birmingham Post-Herald named him the MVP on the 1965 3-A All-State Team. Weaver played in the Alabama All-Star game, throwing the winning touchdown pass in a 13-7 victory for the North.

      Next came college and the Vietnam War before a career in teaching and coaching.

      Raymond served 23 years as a head football coach at Collinsville and Geraldine, serving also as head baseball and girls basketball coach. His best season as a football head coach was 12-1 at Collinsville in 1983. That same year, he was named head coach of the North team in the Alabama All-Star game. Weaver had nine teams that participated in the AHSAA playoffs.

      Raymond Weaver now serves as analyst on Guntersville Wildcat football broadcasts.
